No breakfast or devotion at 9am. We will meet in the gym at 9:45 to distribute DNOW shirts and change into them before going to the choir loft for our DNOW choir.
Following the service all DNOW participants are invited to brunch in the Fellowship Hall with a lesson by Nathan Washburn.
Leaders, please arrive at 9:30 to help us set up to distribute the DNOW t-shirts.
WHAT IS DNOW?
Disciple Now is a weekend that is set apart for students to focus on discipleship, service, and evangelism. Students will come together to learn, serve, worship, and grow as disciples of Christ. We will pack in as much fun, food, fellowship, worship, and spiritual growth as we possibly can. This is a great opportunity for all of our students to get to know other students, parents, leaders, and to help them grow spiritually. Students always say that this is the best weekend of the year!
DNOW 2018 | January 10-14
Our guest speaker this year will be Nathan Washburn. Nathan is a native of Martin, Tennessee and a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Martin with a B.A. in Communications. He also earned a Master of Divinity degree from Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary. Prior to serving at First Baptist Church, Greenbrier, TN, he served as an Associate Pastor at Immanuel Baptist Church in Olive Branch, MS.
Nathan and his wife Jennifer have been married for thirteen years and have two children, Kara who is 7 and Owen is 5. He enjoys spending time with his family at the dinner table, hiking, traveling, reading, playing UNO, doing home projects and backpacking.
Our worship leader this year will be Alan Goodwin. Alan is a member of Colonial Hills Church in DeSoto County and serves on staff as a Technical Director and Worship Leader. He is currently in his last semester at MTSU pursing a B.S. in Audio Production, Music & Entertainment Technology.
Alan states “By the grace of God, I am now a living testimony of the infinitely abundant and thorough love of Jesus that continually renews and transforms my life... God has shown me that my purpose of existence is to promote His kingdom rather than my kingdom, by using the gifts He has given me in music and leadership.”
Wednesday, January 10: 6:15-7:30 p.m. DNOW kicks off in the Gym. Students will find out who their leaders are and which host home they are assigned to. This is a super exciting time!
Thursday, January 11: 6:30-8:00 p.m. Students will meet with Host Home Parents and their guest leaders first thing to discuss some “need to know” things for the weekend. Worship begins in the gym at 7 p.m.
Friday, January 12: 6:15 p.m. Students will bring their things for the weekend and put them in a pre-assigned room before they meet for worship. Around 8 p.m. they will head to their host homes. Students should eat dinner before coming to the church.
Saturday, January 13: We will be meeting at Kirby in the morning for a worship service. After the service, we will be serving with several of our local ministries to help them as needed and to share the gospel and love of Christ with those we will meet. Dinner will be served at the church Saturday evening.
